Né en 1962 au Maroc, Réda Benkirane est sociologue, expert en affaires internationales auprès d'ONG et d'agences des Nations Unies à Genève. Il est titulaire d'un doctorat de philosophie de l'université de Lyon, d'un DEA en sociologie urbaine et anthropologie culturelle et d'un master en étude de développement de l'Institut des hautes études internationales et du développement de l'université de Genève (CV et bibliographie détaillée).
Il a notamment été responsable de l'information auprès de l'ancien Président algérien Ahmed Ben Bella, journaliste à la revue suisse Le Temps stratégique, responsable de la communication au Conseil Oecuménique des Eglises, chercheur au musée d'ethnographie de Genève, membre fondateur et chercheur du Centre d'Etudes Aljazeera. Il est actuellement consultant auprès de nombreuses organisations internationales.
Réda Benkirane est actuellement chercheur associé au Centre des Conflits, du Développement et de la Paix (CCDP) de l'Institut de hautes études internationales et du développment (Genève, IHEID), et membre de l'Institut de Recherches Philosophiques de Lyon (IRPHIL, Laboratoire "Recherche sur la Circulation des Idées") de l'université de Lyon 3. Il dirige l'atelier de recherche Iqbal (http://iqbal.hypotheses.org) consacré à une pensée critique et créatrice en islam et anime depuis 1996 le portail de connaissance @rchipress (hostpress.storemess.com).
Réda Benkirane est l'auteur de Démographie et géopolitique. Etude critique des travaux d'Emmanuel Todd (Paris, Hermann, 2015), La Complexité, vertiges et promesses. Dix-huit histoires de sciences (Paris, Le Pommier, 2002, 2006, 2013), Le Désarroi identitaire. Jeunesse, islamité et arabité contemporaines (Paris, Cerf, 2004, Casablanca, La Croisée des chemins,2012), Religion et Etat. Logiques de la sécularisation et de la citoyenneté en islam (avec Riccardo Bocco et Catherine Germond, Dossier Maghreb-Machrek 224-225, Paris, Editions Eska, 2016) et a dirigé l'ouvrage posthume de Jacques Berque, Quel islam? (Paris, Sindbad-Actes Sud, 2003) et a codirigé Culture & Cultures. Les chantiers de l'ethno (avec Erica Deuber-Ziegler, Golion, Infolio, 2007).

He holds a Phd in philosophy from the university of Lyon, France, an Mphil in urban sociology and cultural anthropology and a Master in development studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, university of Geneva, Switzerland (CV and complete bibliography).
He was information officer of the former Algerian President Ahmed Ben Bella, journalist at the Swiss magazine "Le Temps stratégique", a researcher at the Geneva Museum of Ethnography and a founding member of the Aljazeera Centre for Studies. He is currently a consultant for various international organizations.
Reda Benkirane is currently a Research associate at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva) and a member of the Institut de Recherches Philosophiques de Lyon (IRPHIL, Laboratoire "Recherche sur la Circulation des Idées") of the university of Lyon 3. وقد ألف كتاب “الاضطراب الهوياتي. شباب وإسلامية وعروبة معاصرة” (باريس، دار سيرف ٢٠٠٤، الدار البيضاء، ٢٠١٢، دار لاكروازيه دي شيمان). و”تعقيد ودوار ووعود. ثماني عشرة حكاية علمية (دار پومييه، ٢٠٠٢، ٢٠٠٦). وقد نشر وكتب مقدمة ”أي إسلام ؟ »، كتاب چان بيرك الذي صدر بعد وفاته (باريس، سندباد- آكت سود، ٢٠٠٣) وشارك إيريكا دوبر- زيجلر وجوليون في إدارة العمل الجماعي “ثقافة وثقافات”، مواقع الإثنوجرافيا (دار نشر آنفوليو، چنيڤ ). و”متحف الإثنوغرافيا الوصفية”، سلسلة تابو ٣، ٢٠٠٧.
